Covenant Friendship

"And it came to pass...that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul." 1 Samuel 18:1-3 (NKJV)

"...but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)

There has been many forms of friendships in my life over the years. I have called someone a bestfriend. I have called someone a chill friend. I have called someone a hook up friend...but I never had a convenant friend.

*The above scriptures are readily available for "earthly," friendships but the greater truth is that it symbolizes the possible unbreakable bond between Man and God.*

Covenant Friendship:

"An unforgettable, always forgivable, bound between two people who time, circumstance, or situation could never sever their friendship." -F. Lugo

As I am a firm believer in doing life together, and intentionally extending my hand in friendship to all, I pray that a covenant friendship (an inner circle of friends) would be a blessing into all our lives. As the scripture says in Genesis 2:18 "Its not good for man to be alone," and all though this is directly referenced on convenant marriage between man and woman, it applies to covenant friendships as well.

If you don't have a covenant relationship or friendship as stated so eloquently in the three verses above, I urge you to take heart, pray and believe for it to happen and be made known in God's perfect time. He will put all things in place and make it new.

Let us pray:

Lord Jesus, thank you for your enduring faith and obedience. Because of your love, we can come boldly before God our Father, and speak directly to Him. As your Word says, where there are two or more in your name, you are in the midst of them, and I thank you that you are with us right now! I thank you for the promise that when we ask for anything by your name Jesus, who intercedes on all our behalves, to God, it will be given onto us. To you Father God, we look and ask for covenant friendships and relationships. May it bring a smile to our faces and our hearts, just as it does to you. To you God, all the glory, all the praise, power, and honor. In Jesus precious life giving name, we pray. Amen.

God bless you all.

*Matthew 18:20, and John 14:13-14 are referenced in the prayer. It's power in declaring God's Word. Declare it!*
