1 Corinthians 10:13

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
(1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT)

Just when we think God’s voice has become silent to us and our struggles and sins have overtaken us, the Lord’s grace, mercy and compassion come swooping down and takes us away to a place of peace, joy and intimacy with Him again. This is all possible when we confess our wrongdoings to Him and call on the name of Jesus to save us. With that said, I now invite you Into My HEART...

Beloved, as I was in the bathroom washing up before I settled into bed for the night (that being January 26, 2015 after celebrating my mother’s birthday), the verse above was brought to my attention. The Lord revealed something to me that I had not thought of or was aware of concerning the verse above in which reveals such a wonderful attribute to His character—consistency.

Throughout the Bible there is an underlining truth to God’s character and nature; that of a consistent promise. This promise is to always keep intact our right to choose Him or reject Him.

Many use the terminology “free will” to express this result of God’s consistent promise. However, as you become acquainted with God’s character and His Word, you will see that this free will as many voice it, is in fact the power of choice.

So as the Lord was speaking to me and revealing this to me He showed me the following: He in no way tempts us, however, we can go so far as to say, that He allows temptation to be experienced by us. Why would He do such a thing, we may ask? The simple answer is grace. God’s grace towards us, is seen in His willingness to keep intact our free will or power of choice without wavering.

If He were not to do so and what tempts us is automatically removed without our choosing to be tempted by it or to endure such temptations to not give into them or be overcome by them, He would not be keeping His promise and not be a gracious God but in fact, He’d be a cruel God who is a liar and a dictator having it His way.

Now, grace from God is quite amazing but the undertones of it can be easily ignored or misconstrued when we dictate and define what is God’s grace as we see it and not as He has consistently revealed it to us to be. Such is the case in the following words. “And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.”

In reading those above words it seems quite odd for God who is a God of grace to allow such a thing to happen, but let us continue to experience this consistency in His character. His grace to us is equally accompanied by His willingness to be merciful to us as well as compassionate. “When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

God doesn’t take away a choice from us! He shows us a way, when we are faced with situations that tempt us. This fulfills His grace, mercy, compassion and faithfulness to His Word towards us. What does this show us? God is always consistent in His care towards us. Always. For that, I thank you God.
