A Glimpse: It’s Nature, It’s Definition, His Promise

A Glimpse

“When we look into the perfect Law of God, we see a glimpse of better things to come. When we beheld His glory, the glory as only the begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, we saw yet another glimpse. However, as defined in this world, a glimpse is a very brief passing look or a slight appearance. In Christ we shall not see Him but for a moment, but lo, He is with us until the end of the age and forevermore. Amen!” — F. Lugo

In conversation with the Lord, I can’t help but thank Him for not revealing everything to us about our celestial home. Especially for me. I was one of those kids who would peak into his Christmas gifts and try to get his birthday gifts early. To patiently wait upon that moment that shall take place in a “blink of an eye” and then the believer in Jesus shall forever be ushered into it, is tough at times, but make no mistake this patient waiting is to our benefit. As it has been said, “when your life has come to its end, it’s good to get your affairs in order.” With that being said, I now invite you into my HEART...

The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people’s conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering [extraordinarily patient] toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.
(2 Peter 3:9 AMP)

Preparation is key to everything. Some are more skilled and more willing to be prepared than others, including myself. Yesterday, being June 17, 2014, as I was watching a movie, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and revealed to me, “There’s a time for celebration and then there’s a time for preparation.” At times I feel like a tortoise trying to catch up, but I praise God that with Him and by Him and through Him, I have peace with Him through Jesus Christ. As the saying goes, “make your peace with God.” This cannot be done through Buddha, Allah, the Prophet Muhammad, New Age religion and philosophy, Mysticism, Wicca, worshipping Satan, Eastern Enlightenment, Transmigration, or any other avenue apart from Jesus. Why? All other avenues are taught by either flawed men who have elevated themselves to a superior status, claimed God spoke to them through revelation, or is Mythology and fictional beings that are nothing more than legends based not on fact but fiction. Jesus a historical person and not a fictional character was the only One who identified Himself as one with God being His Father. He didn’t receive a revelation through trances by a fear inducing angel, dragons, serpents, or by Satan himself—He was God revealing His nature to mankind.

And the Word [Christ] became flesh [human, incarnate] and tabernacled [fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile] among us; and we [actually] saw His glory [His honor, His majesty], such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace [favor, loving-kindness] and truth. (John 1:14 AMP)

And the glory [majesty and splendor] of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.
(Isaiah 40:5 AMP)

Reincarnation is a false belief that is man made, teaching that an endless life cycle to reach holiness, righteousness and perfection is achieved through good works and the outcome of karma. However, man cannot attain holiness, righteousness and perfection on their own, as it is written, “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity]. They are all gone aside, they have all together become filthy; there is none that does good or right, no, not one” (Psalm 14:2-3 AMP), and as history has horrifically proven it time and time again. Now incarnation, is greatly made known through God becoming a man through the Person of Jesus Christ to reconcile humanity to Himself!

God being holy, righteous and perfect not limited by the sinful nature of mankind is the only one who is capable to reconcile mankind to Himself, therefore, that is just what He did! This is good news for the one who places their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and God, and for the one who has sought out other religions. The logical response to religions tedious and strenuous workings of good works and penitence is to turn to Jesus Christ. Religion leaves the person’s heart, mind, body and soul bankrupt. However, in Jesus Christ, not only are you reconciled to God, but God graciously sends the Holy Spirit to be received by the believer in Jesus to enable them to live a holy [set apart to be loved by God and to love Him and others as Him in return] life of faith in Christ alone.

Chapters forty-four and forty-five of “A Ready Defense” is quite the unique catalogue of Martyrs and Confessors of the Christian faith. In section five of Josh McDowell’s A Ready Defense titled: The Uniqueness of the Christian Faith (pgs.435-465) we take in many accounts past and present of those who experienced the Risen Lord who is Jesus Christ and they were won over forever! A must read.

There has been those who did not believe (Atheist) and those who struggled with belief in God (Agnostics), even those who were completely under the influence of Satan through mysticism and readings of Taro cards, but they were won over by the reconciling power of God through Jesus Christ the Lord.

The evidence is clear, history has proven it, however, the choice is ours. Jesus will not force anyone to believe on Him nor will He induce fear into someone to get them to do His will. We are all endowed by God the right to choose, as it is written, “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” This is our greatest power and God-given ability...choice! Or as many put it “free-will.”

I wrote this in the hope backed by faith-filled prayer, that these words, and really a testimony to my life apart from Christ and now in Christ, will be that catalyst into the life of the hopeless, doubt-filled wanderer, who is in need of real answers that will produce a sure hope, joy, peace and purpose for them and their life.

One final word: Let not your preconceived notions concerning Jesus be the roadblock, to investigating unbiasedly who He is and Whom He claimed to be. It is a matter of life and death.
