Cleansing feet: A mans reasonable pursuit of his bride to be

This washing of the Word is not some reciting of scripture written in the Holy Bible. It is a Person you experience and then extend to others. Let the man who experiences the Word of God Himself, share Him with the woman who he is pursuing. With that said, I now invite you into my HEART...

“Men, you cannot become a disciple of the Lord Jesus unless your feet are cleansed by the washing of the Word of God.” —F. Lugo

And these things the Lord Jesus speaks to us, His audience, concerning us not knowing what He is doing now but we will know later, this is revealed to you now in this writing and if you are ever so bold and humble to live it out, the Lord Jesus be with you in winning over such a woman; such a bride to be. Amen.

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.” So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”(John 13:1-17 NKJV)

Know this! This is the truth I speak in Christ and I am not lying. Men of God, if indeed you are a man after God’s own heart. Receive this: You cannot win over that woman who should embody the Church of Christ in all her ways, unless you win her over by the washing of the Word of God—As that is the splendid testimony of that glorious One from heaven who came to earth revealing the fullness of God’s grace and truth; Who is Jesus Christ the Lord.

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:25-33 NLT)

But how can you win her over; and how can you pursue her relentlessly if you have not been cleansed by the Word of God? If you are not cleansed how can you cleanse that which will become a treasure and reward to you?

This is trustworthy and true. Let your feet be washed in the presence of the Lord that you too, may have the honor and privilege to wash the feet of others. And what is this washing of the feet? It is having a path that is cleansed, righteous and holy by the washing of the Word! Amen.
