Real Authority

Beloved, originally I had not anticipated putting this confession into this. This morning (1/8/2013) at 6:30am, I was ever so thankful to God to be awake, to be alive, and to have an uninterrupted audience with Him. I cried out to Him concerning many things. Not a cry from struggles of sin, but a cry to absolutely know Him and lose myself. I told Him it was no longer enough for me to know myself and Him, but to only know Him. I said for 20+ years I knew myself and all the tragedy that came from it, and for a few years now, I have known many things of Him and the sheer joy that has come of it, yet I was no longer content being torn between the desires of my flesh and the desires of my God. I have come to acknowledge that God, my God, is the one true God, and a life lived for Him is the only life worth living. With that being said, I now invite you into my HEART...

Beloved, in this world we see a false sense of authority. Real authority doesn’t come when you hover over someone’s head a title or position to show your superiority. It doesn’t come by demanding something of someone they surely cannot do. It isn’t a pointing finger, a balled up fist, a weapon of some sort or a roaring voice. Real authority comes when you are willing to do what others aren’t. When you are willing to pay the highest cost. To become the price for the ransom of many. Real authority comes when you have a servants character and nature. Real authority comes when you aren’t willing to be served but to serve. Real authority comes when you deny your own rights, then others can attain those very privileged rights. Real authority is willing to reveal the heart of love. Real authority was seen only in one person— The Son of God, Jesus Christ. Amen.

When it comes to real authority, we must all look to the One who wasn’t willing to exercise it, but be an example of it. Jesus is ever so gracious to share the true meaning of authority according to the kingdom of Heaven, and to distinguish any false senses of authority, in that He declares to us:

Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded (they alone hold themselves as authoritative. Not by example, but by lies and by force) as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
(Mark 10: 42-45 emphasis added)

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
(Mark 8:34-38 emphasis added)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus)
(2 Corinthians 17-21 emphasis added)

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

(Philippians 2:3-11 emphasis added)

**RECEIVE THE BLESSING**

Beloved, this is what the Lord says and shows me, “You who exercises authority when you never possessed it are foolish. As authority comes from your witness and testimony. If your witness and testimony isn’t strong, your authority has no power. For those with ears to hear, hear!”

Those are serious words to take heed of, and indeed I pray you will do just that. For the individual(s) this is for, the Lord bless you, keep you and increase you if you are ever so humbled to receive it.

As always... YOU ARE LOVED.
