I Number My Days: Psalm 90:12 Inspires

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
(Psalm 90:12 NIV)

In numbering our days, and being aware that we do not have forever in this lifetime to do it right, we will gain a heart of wisdom, and wisdom will teach us that we are short on time, we do not possess an unlimited amount of this rare and hot commodity and we should be aware that we are hard pressed to make our thoughts, speech and actions count for something good while we are still breathing. With that said, I now invite you Into My HEART...

Beloved, it is wise for us to be aware of the times around us, and where we have been, where we are at and to be confident of where we are going. Those moments in our lives that something wonderful, incredible and exciting happen to us, we want to remember. Those moments when something sad, shocking or horrible happened to us, we don’t forget. But what about every other time? What about what we did rather than what was done to us? These moments, if reflected on honestly and utilized properly, can lead to the greatest of self-discovery. We cannot produce out of ourselves what we do not possess.

For 29 years I did not know Jesus. For 17 years I hid things in secrecy. For thirteen years I sought after things that numbed me. For 3 years I turned my back on God. For 18 months I imprisoned myself and another in a marriage that was doomed from the start. For 3 months I cried, and in one glorious moment on July 3, 2009, I gained 5 years of knowing Jesus personally, intimately and powerfully.

I’m 34 years old and had 29 years of bad habits ingrained in me, and 5 years of knowing Jesus, His Word, His power and His love. Compared to 29 from 5, that's very little. How I pray O Lord, the next generation; the generation of today, being the children, teenager and young adult, will choose to believe in Jesus much early on in their lives and remain devoted, dedicated and committed to You, so they can out run and out do what the previous generation in Christ has done before them. That they may say, so long, once and for all, to the old them while rejoicing in the new them that Jesus Christ can only give them. Amen.
