Heaven is for real. Do you know the way there?
I want to start by sharing something personal of my life with you. For so many years I was lost. I was angry and filled with hate. Thinking back on it, I’m not sure if I could pinpoint what made me so angry and filled with hate, however, I felt utterly lost. I was like a man without a compass going around in circles. I treated others terribly. Lied constantly. Envied many. Was filled with jealousy. My time went to frivolous things. My mind thought of very little good. My money went to perishable things; things that wouldn’t last. My body was something for misuse. I cheated, I stole, I did many things I grew to not be proud of and I kept them a secret for as long as I could.
Four months after my 29th birthday (I’m now 34), I found myself absolutely consumed by all those terrible things. I was now separated from my then wife and divorce was imminent. I hit the boiling point. I couldn’t take all the stuff I mentioned above anymore. It was too much. It was too heavy to carry. It became too burdensome. However, I didn’t know what to do but cry and cry and cry and feel sorry for myself, be angry with myself; be disgusted with myself! Just when I felt like I was going to explode, I lifted my body up from my bed and in the darkest darkness of my room I stood sitting on the edge of my bed, slumped over in defeat and hopelessness and cried out to God, and said these exact words, “God, please help me. I can’t do this anymore.” What happened next forever changed my life— Jesus came and saved me from all that pain. I want you to know that Jesus is absolutely willing to take your baggage, your mess, your pain and give you His love, His peace, His joy, His promise. That is what He did on the Cross; that is what He did when He rose from the grave and was not found in that tomb (Matthew 28:1-10). As my sister puts it so wonderfully, “Jesus who rose from the tomb has the power to raise you from any tomb of trial. ” —Heather “FUNK” Palacios
The fact of the manner was, I was a sinner in need of saving and you too, are a sinner in need of saving. And only Jesus can and will save all those who call on His name (Hebrews 10:13).
What would unfold along the way has been listed below, yet I further share my heart with you. With that being said, I now invite you into my HEART...
We may very well not accomplish many things we have our hearts and minds set on in this life, but no other thing is of greater importance to me than your souls being saved. This is the reason I labor away writing, reading and praying. That of all my audience even some may be saved, If not all! This sounds trifling to some, but tomorrow isn’t promised. What if the day of tomorrow didn’t come for you. Where would you be at? What would be the result of your life? Would you go to heaven or hell? These are questions, many if not all human beings ask themselves. Why? Because God the Creator of heaven and earth placed eternity within us (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and we are naturally and supernaturally connected to Him. There is but only one saving grace and only one way to heaven— His name is Jesus. Let us reason together. On any faraway trip, you must have the coordinates (address) and directions to it. If not, this place you have never been to could not be found. You would get lost and end up some other place.
The coordinates have been set. The direction has been given. Here it is:
What unfolded along the way for me
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Jesus declares to all of us— I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
Heaven is for real and God continually calls us to His home through Jesus His Son—Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
We can be sure that Jesus is the Way and that God has in store for us many great things in Him—I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows. (John 10:10)
In order to get to our desired destination we must prepare ourselves for the journey ahead. We must take what needs to be taken and leave what needs to be left behind:
Because of our sin, we are separated from God—For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
The Penalty for our sin is death—For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23 emphasis added)
The penalty for our sin was paid by Jesus Christ!—But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
If we repent of our sin, then confess and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sins!—For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved—For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)
Are you ready to start your journey? Time is of the essence. Don’t hesitate! God is real. Heaven is real. Hell is real, and without knowing the way to heaven, you will not get there. Don’t wait another minute...today is the day of Salvation.
To receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I’m like everyone else - I can’t make it through life on my own. I’m imperfect. I’m prone to sin. I have come to realize that there’s nothing in the world I can do to make myself acceptable to You. But I know that You have loved me so much that You were willing to submit to the cross and die on my behalf. That’s a grace so amazing I cannot understand it; I can only accept it. And I do. I accept Your free gift, and I know that from this moment on, I am saved. I am a child of God. And I give the rest of my life to serving You and experiencing the joy that only You can offer. Fill me now, dear Lord, and raise me to walk in the newness of life. I thank You and praise You! Amen.
What do you do now once you have done the above? Do as I did. I immediately downloaded the YouVersion Bible app (or you can buy your very own personal easy to understand Bible at your local Christian Book Store) and also go to your local Bible-based Church (they may very well have a free Bible they will give to you) and let them know of the decision you made to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. They we guide you the rest of the way.
